2020 Sheboygan SHRM Chapter Scholarship Announced!

    Sheboygan Area - SHRM is committed to “Serving the Professional and Advancing the Profession” within the community. Therefore, we proudly sponsor the Sheboygan Area – SHRM Jack Schoemer Scholarship Award. The scholarship is designed to provide assistance to a student who has a declared major or an emphasis in the human resources field. Sheboygan Area - SHRM chapter does not discriminate against individuals on the basis of race, color, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, disability, age, veteran status, ancestry, national origin or citizenship in the administration of its scholarship program.


    Award
    ● One scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $1,000.
    ● Scholarship funds will be co-paid to the educational institution and the recipient the next fall semester, following confirmation of registration and human resources curriculum.


    Eligibility
    Applicants for the scholarship are required to meet the following qualifications:
    ● Be a Sheboygan, Calumet, Fond Du Lac, Ozaukee or Manitowoc County resident. Sheboygan County residents will be given preference.
    ● A senior in High School or entering the second year or higher at an accredited post-secondary institution. Preferably the post-secondary institution is in Wisconsin, though this is not a requirement.
    ● Be a full-time student. ● Have a declared major or emphasis in human resources management or business major with an emphasis on human resources management(or intend to if not already accepted into the program).
    ● Show commitment and career interest in human resources.
    ● Be in good standing at school and in the community.
    ● Applicants of Sheboygan Area-SHRM Scholarship Selection Committee, Board Members, and their family members are not eligible.
    ● Previous Sheboygan Area-SHRM Scholarship recipients are not eligible.
    ● Be available for an in-person or conference call interview.


    Selection
    The Sheboygan Area - SHRM Scholarship Selection Committee will review applications, set up interviews as deemed necessary, and choose the scholarship recipient. Award determinations are based on the following:
    ● Application responses regarding educational performance, goals, work experience and participation in school or community activities.
    ● Overall demonstrated commitment and career interest in Human Resources.
    ● Financial need.*
    *The scholarship recipient cannot receive any assistance from other sources such as government monies (i.e. Grants; excluding loans), other scholarships and/or employer-funded dollars that cover the entire cost of their tuition.

    Application Requirements
    1. Complete attached application.

    2. A current school transcript must accompany application, along with a personal resume and a letter of recommendation from the student’s advisor.

    3. Written confirmation of information listed may be requested.

    4. Application deadline is February 22, 2020.
